Abstract

The implementation of e-mobility is currently promoted by a number of countries, companies and other organisations, because they fear to miss out on this technology shift of higher sustainability and profitable business opportunities. Despite the effort of many market actors and the promising future of e-mobility, many problems of technical, environmental and economical nature remain. Resulting opportunities, challenges and the positioning options of the participating organisations such as mobility service providers, energy supply companies, automotive and supplier industry and battery manufacturers are depicted. The paper demonstrates the immense dynamic and inter-linkage of this evolving business sector and shows that new product and business model concepts are needed. Extended Products are introduced, exemplified and modelled by the Business Canvas Method as a possible approach to future business planning in e-mobility.
