Customer demand is shifting from standardized products to customized solutions. This demand is satisfied by bundling products and services to so called Extended Products (EP), tailored individually to the customers requirements. However, identification of those requirements and the compilation of a correct and comprehensive specification for an EP pose certain challenges. In many cases, the customer is not totally aware of all requirements towards a holistic solution. Furthermore, collaboration among the customer and other stakeholders, like manufacturers and service providers, is needed to specify the tangible and intangible components of an EP. This research proposal aims to identify the limitations of existing Requirements Engineering approaches to specify Extended Products in collaborative environments. On this basis, an adequate tool to support Requirements Engineering in this setting shall be developed.
