Abstract

Fibre reinforced polymers (FRP) are widely used for the design of rotor blades for wind turbines. They have to meet a large number of requirements. The increasing
performance e.g. of wind turbines result in larger components which have to take
higher structural loads. The approach presented in this paper combines experimental tests with numerical simulations based on the Finite Element Method and tools for the statistic modelling of the compounds key mechanical properties.
